Earth Sciences (Geology)

The Earth Sciences course at Oxford can be taken over three years, leading to a BA in Geology, or to a MEarthSc degree after four years.

The fourth year includes independent work, possibly in a research laboratory. The content of the course is broad and interdiscplinary, often reaching out to encompass the physics, chemistry and biology of the earth. For further details see

The course at St Peter's

St Peter's normally admits three students each year to read Earth Sciences. As well as lectures and tutorials, some teaching takes place in the University's laboratories.

Earth Sciences students are eligible to apply for the Durham Award, awarded each year to a student undertaking study abroad during the long vacation in a field related to their degree course.
