Undergraduate Courses
Politics
Politics can be studied at Oxford only as part of the Philosophy, Politics & Economics (PPE) course or in combination with History.
The study of politics provides a thorough understanding of the impact of political institutions on modern societies. It helps you to evaluate the choices that political systems must regularly make, to explain the processes that maintain or change those systems, and to examine the concepts and values used in political analysis.
The course at St Peter's
The College admits up to four students per year across the joint schools with History and eight to ten students per year in PPE.
Studying Politics as part of these degrees will acquaint you with the institutions that make crucial decisions which govern our lives as members of nations, states, and other political groupings.
You will be required to examine alternative theories and explanations with a critical eye and to unravel complex threads of influence in situations where many factors are at work.
