Revd Matthew Routledge

  • Chaplain

Pronouns: (He/Him)

I joined St Peter’s College as part-time college Chaplain in 2024, having been ordained 'down the road' at Christ Church Cathedral in 2022.  In 2018 I finally responded to increasingly stronger prods that I should train for the ministry after many years working in both the public and private sectors. I trained for ministry at Ripon College Cuddesdon and served as a part-time curate in Wendover & Halton.

Originally a chartered surveyor by profession.  I spent some years in operational management for British Waterways (now the Canal & Rivers Trust) before returning to property, working in international corporate real estate advising technology companies on their property requirements across EMEA. I have also been a part-time tutor at University of Warwick since 2006, teaching change management to engineering students.

Though the Chapel is a place of Christian worship, I hope that all students and staff will feel welcome to use it as a place for quiet reflection, regardless of their personal faith.  I especially hope that the musical beauty of Evensong can offer a pause from the busyness of study and work for all, including those of no faith.

I am a member of the Health, Wellbeing and Welfare Team and happy to have a chat with any student or member of staff.  My office is on Besse Staircase. During term time I am generally in College Sunday and Thursday afternoons and all day on Monday and Friday.

Where to next?
