Dr Emma Edwards
I am a Career Development Fellow at St Peter’s in Engineering, as of October 2023. My undergraduate degree is in mathematics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2012. I finished my PhD in Mechanical Engineering from MIT in 2020, and my thesis was titled ‘Optimization of the geometry of axisymmetric point absorber wave energy converters.’ I did a postdoc at the University of Plymouth, focusing on physical modelling, numerical modelling, and high-level characterization of floating offshore wind turbines. My research interests revolve around analytical, numerical and physical modelling of wave-structure interaction, with applications to offshore renewable energy: particularly wave energy and floating offshore wind.
