St Peter’s College is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Simon Jones as the new College Bursar. Simon joined St Peter’s College on 1 April 2024 from his previous position as Director of Finance and Commercial Development for the Myton Hospices.

Simon brings a wealth of experience from the charity, finance and construction sectors. Before joining Myton Hospices in 2022, he spent a decade as Foundation Secretary of the Warwick Independent Schools Foundation. He has been a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) since 2005, and has worked with companies ranging from a PLC to small and large family-owned businesses.

Simon’s career began in the construction industry, where he started in an administrative role before eventually helping to lead the delivery of large-scale retail building projects, including several well-known high street, supermarket and DIY brands. He is a Trustee and Treasurer of Sense, a national and international charity for people with complex disabilities, a role which also involves chairing their Finance and Audit Committee.

Simon said, ‘After a two-year break from the education sector, spent with a Warwickshire hospice charity, following a twenty-year career in independent schools, the opportunity to join an Oxford college presents a wonderful next step for my personal and professional development. The small and friendly nature of St. Peter’s offers the perfect balance of strategic and operational responsibilities that are best suited to my skillset and enjoyment of work. Most exciting are the fast-approaching 2029 centenary celebrations, where I hope to play a role in securing maximum benefit to the college from both a financial and community perspective, as well as meeting lots of interesting people.’

Simon takes up the role from Interim Bursar Dr Sarah Wilson, who held the role from early 2023. St Peter’s is extremely grateful to Sarah for all she has done for the College during the past year, notably seeing the Castle Bailey Quad project through its final stages.
