
St Peter’s College is pleased to announce Professor Christl Donnelly has been awarded a Visiting Miller Professorship at the University of California, Berkeley from January to May 2026.
The Miller Institute programme recognises eminent scientists and brings them to Berkeley for short-term collaborative research within the Institute’s interdisciplinary community.
Prof Donnelly will collaborate with several leading academics at Berkeley, including Professor Mike Boots (Department of Integrative Biology), Professor Nicholas Jewell (UC Berkeley School Public Health), Professor George Roderick (UC Berkeley Department of Environmental Science, Policy and Management), Professor John Marshall (UC Berkeley School of Public Health), and Professor Joseph Lewnard (UC Berkeley School of Public Health). Prof Donnelly will further develop and apply statistical methods to gain insight into the transmission of diseases of both animals and humans and will extend her collaborative network, introducing her students to new research groups.
Prof Donnelly said, ‘I am honoured to have been offered this Visiting Miller Professorship. The chance to work alongside such an outstanding group of interdisciplinary researchers at Berkeley is truly exciting. I look forward to the many collaborative opportunities this appointment will bring.’
About Prof Donnelly
Prof Christl Donnelly CBE is Professorial Fellow in Statistics at St Peter’s College and the Head of Department and Professor of Applied Statistics at the University of Oxford’s Department of Statistics. She is also the co-director of the Oxford Martin Programme on Digital Pandemic Preparedness. She is a statistician and epidemiologist studying the spread and control of infectious diseases, with a particular interest in outbreaks. She has conducted vital work as a statistical modeller for the COVID-19 pandemic.
