Teaching

For FHS, I teach all papers in International Relations (International Relations; International Relations in the era of Two World Wars; International Relations in the era of the Cold War; Special Subject in Politics: International Security and Conflict), as well as the Politics in China optional paper.  I also teach the Introduction to the Practice of Politics for the First Public Examination.  At graduate level, I supervise and teach on the M.Phil. in International Relations, and am the course provider for the ‘International Relations of East Asia’ option.

Research

My research interests concern the international relations and security of East Asia, with a particular focus on North Korean foreign policy, inter-Korean and DPRK-US relations, the international relations of Northeast Asia, and the UK's relations with the Korean Peninsula. My latest monograph, North Korea and the Global Nuclear Order: When Bad Behaviour Pays, was published by Oxford University Press in 2023.
