Dr Guanchen Li
Stipendiary Lecturer in Engineering Science
I am a Stipendiary Lecturer at St Peter's and a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Engineering Science. I joined the University of Oxford in 2017. I received my Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech and my B.Sc. in Physics from Peking University.
I teach undergraduates taking the paper A2: Electronic and Information Engineering.
My research focuses on developing mathematical models to simulate the performance of batteries. I investigate the failure mechanism of solid-state lithium-ion batteries. I am primarily interested in modelling the interface between metal and electrolyte to understand the dendrite nucleation process.
I also study the fundamental theory of far-from-equilibrium phenomena (e.g., chemical reaction, heat and mass diffusion, phase change) using thermodynamics and quantum mechanics.
