Two St Peter's students chosen to represent Oxford at 2021 Boat Race

Two St Peter's have been chosen as part of the Oxford crews for the 2021 Boat Race against Cambridge on 4 April.

Alex Bebb (2019, DPhil, Engineering), current Oxford University Boat Club President, will be part of the Oxford crew for the 166th Men's race, while Megan Stoker (2020, MREs, Women’s Reproductive Health) will take part in the 75th Women's Race for the Oxford University Women's Boat Club. This represents the first time that St Peter's has had a student in the boat race since 2014, when Karl Hudspith was part of Oxford's victorious crew.

Alex began his Oxford rowing career in 2019 by placing first with the Isis Boat Club coxless four in Head of the River Fours, and later won Trial Eights for the University. In Hilary term he was elected to serve as President of the Oxford University Boat Club for 2021.

Megan has been rowing since the age of 14, taking up the sport after visiting Oxford to watch the bump races. She rowed for four years in her home town for Peterborough City Rowing Club, racing locally and nationally, and then for the University of Bath during her undergraduate studies. She recently competed in the indoor British championships, winning the open and U23 2km and the U23 500m.

St Peter's will not only be represented at this year's Boat Race, which is due to take place on The Great Ouse at Ely, by Alex and Megan but also by Judith Packer (1983, Engineering), who will be umpiring the women's race.

Both races will be broadcast live on the BBC from 15:00.
