St Peter’s welcomes Dr Siana Nkya as AfOx Visiting Fellow
St Peter’s College is delighted to welcome Dr Siana Nkya as an AfOx (The Africa Oxford Initiative) Visiting Fellow for 2019.
Dr Nkya is a lecturer in the Department of Biological Sciences at Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE) and a honorary lecturer at the Department of Biochemistry, Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS). Her research concerns the genomics of sickle cell disease and the establishment of a MinION DNA sequencing platform for hemoglobinopathies for use in Tanzania.
While at St Peter’s, Dr Nkya hopes to strengthen collaborative efforts with various Oxford University researchers and academics. She will be in Oxford between 10 September and 6 October.
