Rt Revd Libby Lane (1986) to be the next Bishop of Derby

Congratulations to St Peter's alumna, the Rt Revd Libby Lane (1986, Theology), who has been elected as the next Bishop of Derby.

Bishop Lane, who is currently the Suffragan Bishop of Stockport, in the Diocese of Chester, made history in 2015 when she became the first woman to be elected to the episcopate in the Church of England.

The service to install her at Derby Cathedral will take place after Easter.

Bishop Lane will replace the Rt Revd Dr Alastair Redfern, who retired in August.

A portrait of Bishop Lane, who was elected an Honorary Fellow in 2015, can be found in the college's Dining Hall.
