Prof Tuffnell appointed to Research Fellowship

Stephen Tuffnell, Associate Professor of Modern US History at St Peter’s, has been appointed to an Honorary Research Fellowship at Federation University’s Collaborative Research Centre in Australian History (CRCAH), Ballarat, Australia, until 2019.

The appointment is part of an ongoing collaboration between Prof. Tuffnell and Dr Benjamin Mountford (Federation) and scholars from Australia, South Africa, and the United States on the global history of gold rushes between 1848 and 1900.

While at CRCAH, Steve will research the history of American migrants on the gold fields of Victoria for his second book and give public lectures on the relationship between the Australian colonies and the United States in the nineteenth century.

Gold Rush: A Global History, edited by Prof. Tuffnell and Dr Mountford, will be published by California University Press in 2017.
