Prof Danny Dorling

Yesterday's Guardian carried a comment piece authored by Prof Danny Dorling, Halford Mackinder Chair in Geography at St Peter's, and Ben Hennig, a lecturer in Geography at the University of Iceland, in which they argue for the abolition of tuition fees at British universities.

Using the example of Germany, where fees are almost non-existent and the pay of senior university administrators is relatively low, the pair contend that more should be done in the UK to promote higher education as a public good, rather than a product that can be sold to enhance an individual’s career prospects.
