Prof Bonsall appointed Lords science advisor
The House of Lords (through their Science and Technology committee) have launched an inquiry into genetically modified (GM) insects. Professor Mike Bonsall, Fellow and Tutor in Biological Sciences at St Peter's and Professor of Mathematical Biology in the Department of Zoology, has been asked to serve as science advisor to this policy inquiry.
The use of GM insects as tools for the management of agricultural pests and the control of mosquito-borne human diseases is growing. The inquiry will explore this novel use of insects and biotechnology.
A report with recommendations, which the Government will be expected to respond to, will be published later in the year.
