Mike Lee OBE (1957-2018)

It is with great sadness that I must announce the sudden death of our alumnus, Mike Lee OBE, aged 61.

Mike arrived at St Peter's in 1976 to read Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE), and was taught by Gavin Williams and John Kenyon. His career saw him become one of the world's leading sports communications executives, and he founded Vero Communications shortly after being part of London’s winning bid for the 2012 Olympics. He also played a key role in Rio’s successful bid to host the 2016 Games.

He was voted PR professional of the year in 2005 and was awarded an OBE in that year's New Year's Honour's List.

We send our condolences to his wife, Heather, and to his son Alex and stepson Euan.

A full obituary has been published in The Guardian.
