Lucy Greenwood (2018) sails up the rankings at the RS Aero World Championships

St Peter's student Lucy Greenwood (2018, Mathematics) has finished in an impressive 8th place in the RS Aero World Championships, which were held in Black Rock, Melbourne, Australia, between 28 December 2019 and 4 January 2020.

Representing Great Britain, and sailing in both the Overall and Ladies categories of the 5 fleet (the smallest sail size), Lucy overcame difficult conditions and stiff competition to finish 8th after racing was cancelled on the final day.

Lucy has been competing on the international stage since the age of 12, and has won five international medals along the way in three different classes of single-handed boat. She has also enjoyed double-handed and team racing successes, including becoming National Schools Champions. Before racing in Australia, she finished 8th and 4th lady at the RS Aero European Championships in Italy, despite being in recovery from an injury which kept her off the water and away from training for three months.

Her time in Australia was generously sponsored by the St Peter's College Foundation and the college's Student Support Fund.
