Lord Weidenfeld, 1919-2016
It is with sadness that I report the death yesterday of our Honorary Fellow, Lord Weidenfeld.
He was one of the most significant figures in British and European culture in the past 60 years and a great friend both to St Peter's and to Oxford as a whole.
Among his many roles at Oxford, he was Co-Chair of the International Advisory Board of the Blavatnik School of Government, a member of the Founding Council of the Rothermere American Institute, and a patron of the Campaign for the University of Oxford. He also served as a governor of the Oxford Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies, a Recognised Independent Centre of the University. He was also an Honorary Fellow of St Anne's College.
We send condolences to his family.
Mark Damazer CBE
Master, St Peter's College
