The Choir of St Peter's College, directed by Quintin Beer, presents 'Tu es Petrus: A Concert of Choral Music by Piers Connor Kennedy'

Led by our Director of Music Quintin Beer, the Choir of St Peter’s College is one of the finest mixed-voice choirs at the University of Oxford. The Choir comprises 25 auditioned students and has an established reputation in Oxford, and further afield, for its choral excellence and diverse repertoire. During University terms, the Choir sings two Choral Evensong services in Chapel per week in our beautiful and acoustically impressive College Chapel.

Entry to the concert is free, but booking in advance is advised.

Piers Connor Kennedy

Piers Connor Kennedy is a Welsh-Irish composer and improviser based in Oxford. His music has been performed internationally by ensembles including the Ligeti Quartet, The Novello Orchestra, Ex Cathedra, and The Gesualdo Six, and has featured in various BBC Radio 3 programmes and at The Welsh Proms.

Specialising in vocal and instrumental composition, Piers has received commissions from Hugh Cutting, The Three Choirs Festival, the Edington Music Festival, Opera Xylem, Sansara, The Choir of St John's College Cambridge, and Christ Church Cathedral Choir Oxford - the latter three of which have made recent recordings of his music.

Piers has served as the Associate Composer at St Peter's College Oxford, where his residency will culminate in a full-length album recording of his music in 2024. Piers recently completed his DPhil in Composition, supervised by Prof. Martyn Harry, at St Cross College Oxford, where he held the Hélène La Rue Scholarship in Music.

Recent works include Crow for counter-tenor Hugh Cutting and the Linarol Consort of Viols, Mobile for pianist Sam Mitchell, and On Monsieur's Departure for Ensemble Pro Victoria with Arculo Consort of Viols. Current projects include An Elizabethan Songbook for Hugh Cutting, and Nowell ell ell for harpist Cecily Beer and Ensemble Pro Victoria, with whom Piers has been composer-in-residence since 2020.
