Management

Management can only be studied at St Peter's as part of the Economics & Management course which is a very flexible course allowing students to develop their interests in a wide range of either Economics or Management options.

In the first year there are introductory courses in economics, financial management and general management. The financial management course covers foundational accounting and finance material. The general management course deals with other major functional areas of management and provides an overview of the historical context of modern business.

In subsequent years students have to complete compulsory courses in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Quantitative Economics and choose six additional options which must include at least two management options. The management options may be drawn from Strategic Management, Finance, Accounting, Organisation Behaviour, Marketing, Technology and Operations Management. The economics options are chosen from a list of over 20 possible topics.

The result is a highly flexible degree which can develop as the course progresses. The wide range of options means that tutorials are often arranged via inter-college exchanges to ensure teaching by a specialist. Strategic management has been the most popular management option across the university for the past several years. Coincidentally it is also the subject that the college management tutor specialises in. The close proximity of the college and college accommodation to the Said Business School is also an added benefit to those studying economics and management at St. Peter's.
