Prof Stephen Baxter and the year 1066

Wednesday, March 1, 2017

Last night saw the airing of the first episode of the BBC series 1066: A year to conquer England, which features interviews with Prof Stephen Baxter, Barron Fellow in Medieval History at St Peter's, who also served as the show's historical consultant.

Presented by Dan Snow, the series tells the story of the Norman invasion of England, which culminated with the Battle of Hastings on 14 October 1066.

Prof Baxter is a world-leading expert on the Anglo-Saxon world and on Domesday Book, the great survey of England commissioned by William the Conqueror twenty years after his victory at Hastings, and on which Stephen presented a BBC programme in 2010.
